Celebrating Military Spouses in Chula Vista: Community, Partnership and Appreciation

In a show of solidarity and appreciation, the City of Chula Vista recently recognized the tremendous role of military spouses, both past and present, with a special proclamation. In doing so, the Mayor called upon Us4Warriors to help assemble the community to accept this proclamation on May 23rd, 2023, a testament to the resilient spirit of military families in our community by celebrating military spouses in Chula Vista.

Us4Warriors CEO, Tony Stewart, championed Linda Sundberg of the American Legion Auxiliary to represent and accept the proclamation on behalf of military spouses. Sundberg, a beacon of strength and commitment, delivered an inspiring speech that brought home the spirit of the proclamation, beautifully articulating the experience and resilience of military spouses.

A show of unity was clear at the event as members of the Auxiliary of Fleet Reserve Association Branch 61, Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 2111 Auxiliary, Members of the Military Order of the Purple Heart, and active-duty military spouses of the Us for Warriors Foundation's Warrior Volunteer Force were present. This event demonstrated the strength of collaboration and the power of community, with each organization demonstrating their shared commitment to supporting our military families.

The Chula Vista City Council proclaimed May 2023 as Military Spouse Appreciation Month. Mayor John McCann read the presentation as Councilmember Alonso Gonzalez of District 3 presented the proclamation. This proclamation marks a significant recognition of the sacrifices and contributions of military spouses in our community.

In a symbolic gesture preceding the event, the POW/MIA flag was added to the City Chambers' flags. With military spouses, Mayor John McCann, and city officials united, the flag was raised to remember those we have lost, marking a poignant moment as we approach the Memorial Day weekend.

Us4Warriors Foundation is grateful for this opportunity to stand alongside such dedicated community partners. We applaud Linda Sundberg for her kind words and community partnership that embodied the strength and resilience of military spouses everywhere.

As we continue our work in support of veterans and their families, we extend our heartfelt appreciation to the City of Chula Vista and our community partners. Together, we will continue to recognize and support the military spouses who contribute so much to our community.
